Casa Balş - Sturdza cunoscută şi sub numele de Poşta Veche sau Poşta Mare este situată în Iaşi, str. Cuza Vodă nr. 3. Imobilul este datat, în literatura de specialitate, la mijlocul secolului al XIX-lea. Cu prilejul unor ample lucrări de consolidare/restaurare s-au descoperit în interior ziduri masive, astfel că au fost necesare săpături arheologice de salvare. În urma cercetărilor s-au identificat fundaţiile ş...i porţiuni din elevaţia unui palat datând de la sfârşitul secolului al XVII-lea, aparţinând familiei boiereşti Balş. Aceştia stăpâneau un întins perimetru în marginea de NE a vetrei vechi a oraşului, unde o altă ramură a familiei îşi ai construise un palat. În imediata apropiere a acestora a fost ridicată Biserica "Sf. Dumitru", ctitoria şi necropola familiei.
Balş - Sturza House, also known as The Old Post or The Great Post is located at 3 Cuza Vodă Street. In the relevant literature, the building is dated to the middle of the 19th century. During ample consolidation works, massive walls were found inside the building, so rescue excavations were necessary. After the excavations, we identified foundations and parts the palace main structure. The palace dates to the end of the 18th century, belonging to the Balş boyar family. They were the landowners of a very large plot of land on the north-eastern side of the mediaeval town, where another family’s branch had built another palace. Nearby the palaces, the "St. Dumitru" Church had been built and was considered the family’s foundation and cemetery.
