Investigaţiile arheologice au avut drept scop cercetarea integrală a obiectivelor arheologice identificate pe o mică insulă din mlaştina pârâului Mirghes, situată la est de oraşul Carei, în apropierea şoselei Carei – Satu Mare. Existenţa sitului a fost constatată în profilul drumului de acces spre ferma formată din patru grajduri şi în suprafaţa decopertată pentru construcţia acestora. Zona cu urme de ocolire s...e afla în centrul insulei, pe suprafaţa a două grajduri. În urma decapărilor mecanice succesive, s-a putut delimita conturul a 25 complexe arheologice. Complexele aparţin în majoritate epocii timpurii a bronzului, perioadă pentru care a fost surprinsă existenţa unui strat de cultura cu grosimea maximă de 0,40 m. Au mai fost descoperite complexe din epoca Latène, epoca romană si epoca medievală timpurie. Tipurile predominante de complexe sunt: fântâni, gropi menajere, gropi cu depuneri, cuptoare de ars vase şi menajere.
The archaeological site is situated on an island in the marshy area east of the town of Carei. The majority of features belong to the Early Bronze Age, period for what a cultural layer with a maximum thickness of 40 cm was identified. There were also identified features from the Latène period, the Roman Period, and Early Middle Ages. The most common types of features are: wells, garbage pits, pits with depositions, pottery kilns and ovens.
